Start Thinking...Right Now! ...Which Way is North!? Sitting, where you are -- right this second -- which way is North? You have to stop-'n-think, don't you? Annnnd...You're Dry, On Solid Ground, Surrounded By Light, and Not Confused! You Don't Have To Know! On board, you better! Then, add this: "Knowing where North is -- while on board -- isn't enough!" What's between you -- and your destination -- is one of the things, you need to understand. Another? What Visual Cues can you add to the mix? Is it True -- or Magnetic -- North, you're using. What's the Distance? Your Speed (Knots or MPH)? What are the Rules, concerning ... whatever? What you just read are just some of the things, you must be aware of...and...there's MUCH more! One of the most available -- and simplest items, you must always have, within reach -- is a current Chart, for your cruising area. They're easy to find (most Marinas, etc.) and invaluable in content.
