Search & Rescue, With A Capital SAR!
Three Sizes

What Does It Take!? -- To make a leap, in the -- all-important --  Search and Rescue field, for the Marine environment!?  Not since, The Strobe, has such a forward move been made.

"What Does It Take?"  Just...25 years, of flying over trees, ice and snow ... a little girl ... a day, off ... a cat ... and some sort of, child's Magic Wand!  Nothing to it!  That is: IF you are Jim O'Meara, a 25 year veteran of Alaskan bush piloting, a husband (to a patient Kim) and full of: the need to be aware of surroundings and possibilities.

While using a Laser pointer, to drive the cat, nuts ... Jim -- accidentally -- hit his little girl's, plastic magic wand, with the beam.  The light exploded, all over the room!  "Birth."  The birth of an idea, a product, and Greatland Laser, all at the same time.  But, HOW he did it ... is not as important as: WHAT he did!  Jim found a new way, to save lives.

Greatland Laser Flare -- <---- "Click" When we heard about it, we decided to put it through its paces.  The diminutive device (three different sizes) will -- at its largest -- fit into a life vest, or pocket, with ease.  Believe us ... after testing it ... we'd be hard-pressed, to leave home, without it! (Hear that, American Express!?)

What is truly unique, about this Laser, is its ability to project a  b r o a d  laser line, as far as 28.5 miles, on a good day!  A strobe can't even come close to that distance.  But, there's more!

In our tests, we found that the 'Cone' of visibility, expanded, as it reached-out.  At 16 miles, the "fan of light," it creates, is over 6,000 feet, wide!  And a brilliant space, it is.

... And Touch, Someone

A Great Difference -- with this device, as compared to others, is that it works ... both ways!  If you need assistance, you can signal help, by sweeping their area, with the projected light.  #2 - if they are looking for you, they can scan the area, with the laser, illuminating anything reflective, in your area (life jacket, etc.).  Believe us, when we say: "It reflects!"  It looks-like, a burning spot, in the distance ... bright, bright, bright!  Let's see a strobe, do that!

Using -- easily replaceable -- AA batteries, the top-of-the-line "Magnum," will act as a distress signal for up-to 72 hours!  That's equal to: 4,320 one minute incendiary flares!  Without a burned finger (or boat) in sight!  It is waterproof, to 80 feet and non-hazardous to the environment, under any circumstances.

The Greatland Lasers are machined from, something called: "Derlin" plastic, to prevent corrosion and to protect its innards.  For instance, the Laser Diode is rated at 10,000 hours, meantime to failure.  That should cover you.

All New Storm Predator Radar

Normally -- If you look around, you'll see; we don't -- usually -- run pictures, this big.  But, after a thorough review, we think this one is important enough -- to Safety --  (you KNOW, how we feel about that!), to show all the detail, we can.

The Screen Load, you see, is -- directly -- from our own computer ... AND ... you can have it, too!  Yes, in this case, it shows Maine ... but, it can show you, virtually, anywhere!  It is Real Time, taken from the National Weather Service (NWS) computers, by Darryl House and the people at The Weather Shop.  "STORM PREDATOR," as it is known, is anything ... but!

Go to their website, through the above Link, and download a FREE, Trial Version.  Once you see, how helpful it is ... upgrade ... and join, those of us, who can "See," just ba little better.  You WILL upgrade!  Thanks, Darryl!

C'mon ... 'Visit' Some Whales!

The Whale Center of New England:  Has set-upon a name, for their new 42-foot, 375hp research boat -- The Mysticete -- replacing the old standby Silver II.  This comfortable, very stable, offering  is, once again, providing its -- very special -- Whale "Visitations." [our word for it]  Unlike most Whale Watching trips, the Vessel, will take, a maximum, of six people on their research cruises.

The trips are full day affairs, leaving at 7:00 AM and returning at 4:00 PM ... of course, weather plays a hand in that!  The $110 (Members) and $125 (non-members) fee is $50 tax deductible and goes to fund the research works of the organization.

During the trip, you have the option to assist in collecting data and speaking with true scientfic professionals, about what you see.  Call them, at: 978-281-6351, Monday through Saturday ... or E-mail: info@whalecenter.org for more information and required reservations.
